This is the ninth in a new series of original, mixed media pieces exploring some new ideas and techniques. I had originally intended to only create six pieces in this series. However, after the first six where finished, I felt like I had not completely explored the ideas going into them. There are still some creative paths to go down with this series. So, here we are at number 9.
I think the title does a good job of conveying where I was coming from with this series. Growing up in a Catholic household, I was often exposed to religious art and iconography. Over the years, the meaning and my personal connection to religious art has changed quite significantly. With all that said, this series is not completely about religion. It’s also about us. This is why I want to continue exploring with this series and see what ideas we might uncover.
