With this painting, I’ve been exploring new techniques and ideas around the concept of emptiness. Not emptiness in the dark, bleak sense, but more the way we’re always trying to fill it. When things are quiet, we turn on music or the TV. When we’re alone, we grab our phones and scroll without thinking. You know what I mean.
I can’t help but feel that every time we stop our minds from wandering, we block the pathway to new ideas. I’ve always believed that creativity lives inside that emptiness, because when you sit with it, you’re left with no choice but to fill it with the unfiltered ideas already swirling in your head.
