ABOUT THIS PAINTING
This is one of those paintings that took forever to complete. I kept circling around this idea of who we see ourselves to be versus who the world sees us to be.
Most of us would probably say that these two views rarely align. From conversations I’ve had with others, the sentiment was that each person felt that the outside view was a simplified version that focused on a couple of traits that where important to the other person. Whereas, the internal perception of self was that we are complex, unique and colorful individuals with depth and many qualities that never see the light of day. From my own life, I have to agree.
So, this painting, is about that. Who are you behind the mask that the world sees? Now let it out and be free.
